Susan’s involvement in the arts includes roles as artist, teacher, speaker, writer, designer, and publisher. She works in multiple media focusing on sculptural bookmaking and calligraphy. Her work has been exhibited widely: the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, the University of Indiana Art Gallery, the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, and the Seungnam South Korea Book Fair. It has been featured in books (1,000 Artists' Books, 500 Handmade Books, Cover to Cover, and Handmade Books And Cards) and magazines (Somerset Studio, Fiberarts, Bound & Lettered, and Letter Arts Review). Susan is internationally known for her advocacy of the educational and personal value of simple bookmaking through her website makingbooks.com and her youtube channel.
