Still Above Ground: My Badass Battle with Cancer
chronicles the author's battle with Stage 3 endometrial cancer. The hope is that the journal will encourage others traveling down a similar path. Through maintaining a sense of humor and embracing resilience, cancer will not defeat, demoralize or diminish those who are faced with battling the disease. Jeri Kroll is a retired human service administrator. She has enjoyed creative writing as long as she can remember. Her hope is that her writing will provide encouragement and laughter to others traveling down a similar path. She lives in Ipswich with Jodi, her partner, and their dog, Sydney. |

Family Matters
Heartfelt stories—remembered and re-visioned—are at the center of Family Matters, a collection of poems by Anne Mulvey. Many chronicle vivid childhood experiences growing up in Indiana in a large Irish-Catholic family. Childhood awareness of contradictions and complexities associated with gender, race, and class evolve over time. Several poems grapple with loss, death, and their consequences. Through the lens of the author, stories and reflections explore large and small changes and related emotions: longing and loving, empathy and anger, grief and joy. The poems in Family Matters cover a lot of ground, a lifelong journey you don’t want to miss! Anne Mulvey began writing poetry in response to her brother Michael’s death in 1994. Her poems have been published in Abafazi, The Bridge Review, The Community Psychologist, The Offering, The Powow River Poets Anthology II, and grassroots publications. Anne, Professor Emerita of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, is certified as an Amherst Writers & Artists leader, an InterPlay leader, and is a long-time member of the Powow River Poets in Newburyport, Massachusetts. |
